ACCORDING to the development plan of northeast China's Liaoning province, port of Dalian's container capacity will be raised to 20 million TEU or 500 million tons by 2020, Xinhua reported.
Meanwhile, aggregate capacity of the ports in Liaoning province will reach 35 million TEU or one billion tons.
A senior government official of the province divulged that Dalian also plans to build its second airport since the existing Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, the busiest in the north eastern China, has reached its capacity.
During the first half of this year, the port of Dalian handled more than 100 million tons of cargo. Since 2004, a total of 110 million tons' capacity has been added to the port. It offers shipping service to over 300 ports in the world and is the transshipping hub for more than 90 per cent cargo in northeast China.
