POSTED: 8:57 a.m. EDT, August 28,2007
THE mainland Port of Dalian has recently started to expand its Lushun port area.

The project is expected to cost CNY2.7 billion (US$360 million) to develop. The first phase of the development, to be completed in May 2008, will mainly involve reclamation work, costing CNY700 million.

The second phase of the expansion will involve the construction of nine berths and related port facilities for an estimated cost of CNY2 billion, Xinhua reports.

The expanded port area will have a quay length of four kilometres, the report added.
