DALIAN handled 340,000 TEU in August, an increase of 19 per cent or 54,100 TEU compared to the corresponding month last year, Chinese mainland publication Logistics Week reported.
The port's cargo throughput went 15.2 per cent up to 14.6 million tons, 1.9 million tons more than the same month last year.
From January to August, the port's container throughput came to 2.4 million TEU, up 20.5 per cent year on year to 416,000 TEU. Cumulative cargo throughput increased 21 per cent to 109 million tons, 19 million tons more than the comparable period a year ago.
From January to July, Dalian's cumulative foreign trade value increased 25.7 per cent to US$21.8 billion. Exports went up 30.6 per cent to $12.3 billion while imports rose 20 per cent to $9.5 billion, generating a trade surplus of US$2.7 billion.
