Shanghai's container volume tops 10 million TEU to June

Container volume of Shanghai Port Group increased 25.6 per cent to 10.29 million TEU in the first five months of this year, said a report in Logistics Week.
This includes 3.6 million TEU water-to-water transit containers, accounting for 35.1 per cent of the total. Yangshan port area contributed 2.201 million TEU, which surged 114.7 per cent. Container volume of Shanghai Port Group and the water-to-water transit container volume at Yangshan accounted for 46.3 per cent of Yangshan's total.
Shanghai Port Group handled 2.205 million TEU containers and 31 million tons of cargo in May alone, both of which were monthly records.
Shanghai Port added 26 new container services from January to May this year, including 15 cross-ocean services. |
