POSTED: 8:31 a.m. EDT, July 18,2007
Ningbo'S container volume increased year on year by 38.7 per cent in the first half of 2007 to 4.43 million TEU, roughly equivalent to the entire throughput in 2004, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The port's overall cargo throughput in the first half rose 13.3 per cent to 166 million tons, of which 111.4 million were handled by the Ningbo Port Group, a jump of 9.2 per cent, adding 9.3 million tons.

According to The Ningbo Daily, the port provided 21 new shipping services this year. By the end of June, Ningbo had been servicing 184 container lines, 96 of which are ocean carriers.

The port now offers 833 liner services a month, over 100 services more than in the corresponding period in 2006.
