Suzhou container throughput surges 69pc in January

THE container throughput of Suzhou port surged 69.1 per cent to 138,000 TEU in January this year, a report in Suzhou Daily said.

The container volume includes 47,000 TEU handled by Zhangjiagang port area, 22,000 TEU handled by Changshu port area and 69,000 handled by Taicang port, up 21.67 per cent, 88 per cent and 120 per cent respectively.

The three port areas of Suzhou handled 14.13 million tons of cargo in January, up 35.76 per cent, the report said.



Zhangjiagang port area, Changshu port area and Taicang port area respectively contributed 9.43 million tons, 2.52 million tons and 2.18 million tons, representing for a growth of 34.9 per cent, 31.6 per cent and 45 per cent respectively, the report added.
