Maersk forms new management team for southeast Asia
POSTED: 8:55 a.m. EDT, September 20,2007

The AP Moller Maersk Group has made two new appointments to its management team for the Maersk container business in Southeast Asia.

Henrik Jensen who held the position as head of Maersk Line for Maersk in southeast Asia for the last four years has been promoted to senior director for country management, heading seven countries in the region.

In this newly-created position, Mr Jensen will provide cross-functional co-operation within Maersk and spearhead talent development in southeast Asia, a company statement said.

Mr Jensen said: "I am dedicated to driving greater synergy between the countries and southeast Asian headquarters in Singapore so that we increase our business momentum further."

He will be based in Singapore and reports directly to Jesper Praestensgaard, the chief executive for Maersk in Southeast Asia.

Thomas Lindy Sorensen will succeed Mr Jensen as the new head of Maersk Line in southeast Asia. Mr Sorensen has worked in various business units within the group and brings with him extensive experience from earlier management positions in China and India. Before his new appointment, Mr Sorenson was responsible for the Maersk transpacific service network.

In his latest appointment as head of Maersk Line in Southeast Asia, Mr Sorensen will oversee operations, commercial and market intelligence.
