Interview with Mr. Marcin Raczkiewicz, Managing Director of RGW Express group

2011-12-19

RGW Express Warsaw was established in 1990 as a part of RGW Express Group - freight forwarding companies focused on the Eastern European countries market. And after two years, JCtrans has a second chance to interview with Mr. Marcin Raczkiewicz, Managing Director of RGW Express group, to talk about RGW Express's development in the two years.

Mr. Marcin Raczkiewicz: Last two years were very successful but also hard working period for RGW Express group.

We proved that our prediction of the freight forwarding market development was correct.

As expected, after the first stage of global markets recovery, during recent weeks we see further market turbulences related USA and EU economy problems. The situation is different from that of two years ago as we do not expect deep cargo volume decrease as recorded in 2008/2009. During that time Poland was the only EU country which avoided economy recession. I'm sure that nowadays Poland with its strong economy bases will prove again its value.

However, understanding the global economy circumstances, RGW Express did its homework. We have not lost recent years - we were preparing ourselves for even more tough market conditions. During this time RGW Express successfully implemented several programs improving our operation possibilities. One of these programs is awarded by AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certificate. It allows us to release dutiable cargo shipments within 60 minutes from declaring it to the Customs in simplified procedure. The second significant project which we are just completing its implementing is the procedure for EU Regulated Agent. It will give us the additional advantage to reduce the security (X-ray) spendings covered by the airfreight customers.

Thanks to all these actions we feel confident that our company is well prepared for the future unpredictable market circumstances.

The source of our strength remains unchanged - we are big enough to compete with really big market players and small enough to be faster and more flexible - that's what our customers and foreign partners appreciate.

Recently we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. It proves that long term efforts focused on business development based on steady and honest rules, gratitudes in constructing expertise team of industry professionals. They guarantee top quality of our services but they also attest that RGW Express is a good company to work for. We trust that our long term policy in regards our customers, partners and personnel will be successful also in the future. The scale of this success will much depend on surrounding economy factors. Our business is much related to the global economy conditions and any storm in that field effects freight forwarding business as a first one. Recent EU Summit decision to discount Greece debt and to reinforce the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) rescue fund with the possible help of China and Russia is a step to tackle the current situation. Also, negotiated by the Polish EU presidency a bundle of five regulations and one directive that bring more transparency and discipline to the finances of member states - so called "six pack"- was a good beginning.

Unfortunately these are only the first steps which give some additional time for all of us to prepare for the long and not easy journey through the financial markets treatment and recovery. That's why I'm very happy to conclude that RGW Express is already prepared to operate and serve our customers and partners at top quality level - at any time and in any market circumstances.
