Mr. Ghazi Azmat Khan: Logistics is the science of transportation with the utmost efficiency and minimum waste. To achieve the objectives of logistics, the infrastructure of Pakistan, or any other country for that matter, holds the key. The infrastructure of Pakistan, necessitated by the expanding consumer base and growing economy, is growing swiftly to facilitate the logistics of development and progress in Pakistan.

JCtrans: How do you see the transportation industry development in Pakistan?

Mr. Ghazi Azmat Khan: The development of any country depends on its supply-line i.e. transportation industry. With increasing advancements in technology and progressive economy, transportation industry in Pakistan is poised to become the locust of growth, incubating within itself a profitable and sustainable business model. The potential in this industry is such that the transportation industry is attracting huge investments, both local and foreign. Keeping in view the strategic importance of Pakistan as a port country to many Central Asian countries, its proximity to China, and increasing bilateral trade with India, the importance of transportation industry in Pakistan becomes more evident.

Although the transportation system in Pakistan is comprehensive as it is, a government allocation of US$2.21 billion and Foreign Direct Investment of US$500 million speak for itself how the industry will develop in the coming days. Consider with this the increasing population and its demands for goods, Pakistan's transportation industry will always have room for growth without the susceptibility to stagnation, paving the future of transportation industry in the fast lane.
