Taiwanese shipping line Evergreen has announced a series of rate increase on services from north Europe to the US.

On 1 December, the carrier will increase rates on services to the Atlantic coast by US$250 per 20ft container and $350 per 40ft and high-cube container.

This will be followed by a second increase on 1 January of $350 per 20ft and $450 per 40ft and high-cube container and a final increase on 1 April of $350 per 20ft container and $450 per 40ft and high-cube container.

The increases apply to all cargo and commodities, including reefers and special equipment.

The carrier said: "In a continued effort to provide our customers with the same reliable and efficient level of service on northern Europe to US trades, it is essential to bring freight rates back to sustainable and viable levels so that we can continue providing a comprehensive network and quality of liner services that our customers expect."
