Shenzhen's SCT January box throughput sets new high

2008-2-7

Shekou Container Terminal's (SCT) container throughput surged 57.7 per cent to a new monthly high of 367,823 TEU in January.

Two new services, the China-Pakistan Express Service (CPX) jointly operated by Yang Ming and OOCL, and the East-West Express Service (EWX) operated by Zim, have started to call, bringing the number of lines calling at SCT to 70.

On February 1, SCT started to offer a free shuttle bus service from the terminal to the Marine Centre at Qianhaiwan Logistic Park, where the Shekou Customs has moved to provide greater convenience for customs brokers and cargo that transits via SCT.

The new shuttle service departs on the hour and returns half an hour later. SCT is the first among its peers in Shenzhen to offer such a service.

With the launch of Marine Centre, Shekou customs clearance and CIQ inspection have been centralised in Qianhan Bay Logistics Park area, creating a more efficient and integrated customs environment for SCT Western Shenzhen Port users.

The Marine Centre, now centralising all customs offices scattered around the Shenzhen western port areas, will enhance clearance efficiency for cargo shipped via these terminals.
