The frequency of the shuttle barge service between the western port of Shenzhen and Fangcheng in the southern part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has been increased to twice a week, announced Shekou Container Terminal (SCT).
The frequency of the service has been stepped up to cater to rising demand for barge transport from local vendors, freight forwarders and shipping lines, said an SCT statement.
Operated by Hercules Logistics Forwarding Ltd, the shuttle service for container cargo now departs from the deepwater port of Fangcheng, located at the northern bank of the Beibu Gulf on the southwestern Chinese coastline, every Wednesday and Saturday.
The service is scheduled to call at Shenzhen's western port area every Saturday and Monday and to set off for Fangcheng the following day.
Two barges are used on the service, each with a carrying capacity of around 100 TEU.
