China Maritime 2008 is returning to Hong Kong Wednesday March 12 to Friday March 14 with over 130 exhibitors from 18 countries, including shipbuilding and repair yards from the Philippines, Netherlands, Italy and Asia countries.
Also on exhibition will be engine and propulsion systems from the US, Philippines, Germany, Canada and Asia, especially China. Plus interior furnishing from Norway, Turkey, Germany and Australia; marine equipment from Europe, US and China; electronic communication and navigation from Germany, Norway, Netherlands, China and US; and classification societies and registry agencies from the Marshall Islands and Panama.
Other participants are the Hong Kong Marine Police, one of the world's most extensively equipped force, with 72 patrol boats and 74 miscellaneous craft, ranging from 40 metres to four metres, the Marine Department, HK Maritime Museum and shipping organisations, a statement from organisers said.
Sponsored by the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council, the Hong Kong Marine Department and the Hong Kong Ship Owners Association, the exhibition will showcase the world's latest satellite, radio communications and port technology.
Hong Kong was chosen as the location for the event because it controls nine per cent of the world's tonnage, with its ship owners and managers providing 61.6 million deadweight tonnes from the heart of Pearl River Delta region.
