Vladivostok's container terminal, with an expected annual capacity of 100,000 TEU, should be functioning by the middle of 2008, according to its operator, Container Service of Vladivostok, a unit of LLC, Container Terminal of Vladivostok.
The Vladivostok Times reported that the Shanghai Port Machinery Co., has a US$15 million order to deliver two mooring container loaders and two storage loaders with carrying capacities of 50 tons each.
There are also three contracts with 2007 delivery dates for additional container handling gear from Spain and Finland. Earlier this month three semi-automatic spreaders arrived and the arrival of a reach stacker and loader for empty containers and two port haulers is expected in July. Two more haulers are expected in September, reported the newspaper.
