Nanjing Longtan 2006 box volume exceeds 800,000 TEU
POSTED: 3:07 p.m. EDT, February 4,2007

China's port of Nanjing's Longtan Container Terminal, largest facility of its kind on the Yangtze River, handled over 800,000 TEU of boxes during 2006, Xinhua reports.

Phase one of the Longtan terminal started operation in September 2005, and work is currently underway on constructing phases two and three of the port area. Authorities expect facilities to be completed by May.

Phases four and five are expected to be built by the end of the decade.
