Manila International Container Terminal opens online booking service

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) has installed an online booking service for full export containers at its flagship Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).
The terminal operator's web booking application is intended to make business transactions at the terminal more efficient and speed up the handling of boxes by reducing the queuing time of trucks waiting for manual encoding of container bookings. In the past, such manual handling resulted in mistakes or incomplete data that could also be tampered with.
Web booking is a feature of MICT's new gate system, an automated entry system comprising computer imaging, box tracking, boom barriers, weigh bridges, truck portals with imaging cameras, automated driver transaction kiosks and radiation portal monitors.
MICT iBox can be accessed via MICT's web site, www.mictweb.com. Users are required to create and finalise a booking, and the container will be automatically booked, hence trucks loaded with export containers can proceed directly to the entrance gates. An added feature of web booking is its capability to report and monitor cargo status from entry until exit from MICT, a company statement said.
