Scandinavia¨s SAS to remain independent

The chief executive of SAS has vowed to keep the Scandinavian airline independent in the long term, rejecting the idea of merging with a competitor.

SAS wanted to use the current round of consolidation in the industry to sell its subsidiaries Spanair and Air Greenland as well as the 20 percent stake it holds in British Midland.
