DELHI's High Court has stayed a Civil Aviation Ministry's order reducing free storage at Delhi International Airport Pvt Ltd (DIAL), reports the Press Trust of India.
The injunction from Justice S Ravinder Bhatt restrained the ministry and the airport from cutting free air cargo storage time from five working days to three.
Aero Sea Shipping Pvt Ltd, an importer of furniture, had appealed to the court to restrain the ministry and DIAL, arguing that the notification was arbitrary and infringed on fundamental rights.
If goods are not removed after free storage expires, the shipper is liable for demurrage to DIAL. Under the quashed scheme, reduction of free time would result demurrage charges being paid after three days.
