China Southern cargo executive Zhang Zhi Feng has hinted that the cargo joint venture deal being discussed with Air France-KLM is about to be finalised.
^I will be meeting with Michael Wisbrun Thursday, so all I can say is that you should watch China Southern closely. Just watch us, ̄ he said at Transport Logistic in Munich.
Wisbrun, chairman of AF-KLM¨s joint cargo management committee, confirmed to Cargonews Asia last week that the carrier was in talks with China Southern.
He said the joint venture would operate both within Asia and on routes out of Southern China to the US and Europe, and there may be another investor involved.
The airline hopes to take a similar route as German rival Lufthansa Cargo, which has a 25 percent stake in Jade Cargo International. The other partners in the Shenzhen Airport-based venture are Shenzhen Airlines (51 percent) and DEG-Deutsche Investitions-und Ent wicklungsgesellschaft (24 percent). |
