Hamburg Sud has held a naming ceremony for its latest 3,752-TEU newbuild, the Bahia Laura in South Korea.
The containership is the fifth in a series of six identical vessels that are being constructed by the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering yard in Okpo.
The Bahia Laura will be phased into Hamburg Sud's service between Asia, South Africa and South America's east coast.
The Bahia Laura is named after the nature reserve, Reserva Natural Bahia Laura, in the Argentinian province of Santa Cruz, which lies 80 kilometres south of Puerto Deseado.
This year has already seen delivery by DSME to the shipping group of the Bahia, Bahia Blanca, Bahia Castillo and Bahia Grande. Hamburg Sud expects to take delivery of the final containership in the series, the Bahia Negra, in August, a company statement said.
