Hamburg Sud cuts NY service from 2 to 1 terminal calls
POSTED: 8:31 a.m. EDT, June 4,2007
Hamburg Sud says it is consolidating all of its liner services for the New York region so that they will call at one terminal instead of two, in a bid to streamline the delivery and pick-up of cargo.
The move means that starting this month two of the shipping lines services will be transferred to the terminal operated by Global Terminal & Container Services in Jersey City, and the company's vessels will cease calling at New York Container Terminal Inc.
Global Terminal currently handles Hamburg Sud's weekly Tango service to South America's east coast.
Commencing with the arrival/departure of the CSAV Rio Puelo on June 7, 2007, voyage number: 30, the Samba service string of Hamburg Sud's US east coast - South America east coast service will call at Global.
On June 26, Hamburg Sud's weekly US east coast-South America west coast service will also transfer to Global Terminal with the arrival/departure of the CCNI Punta Arenas, voyage number: 719, a company statement said. |
