PSA, NYK, 'K' Line to operate Singapore terminal
POSTED: 11:42 a.m. EDT, April 26,2007
PSA Singapore Terminals (PSA) has entered into a joint venture agreement with NYK and "K" Line to operate a dedicated car terminal in Singapore.

The new joint venture terminal named, Asia Automobile Terminal (Singapore) (AATS), will be located at the Pasir Panjang Terminal. AATS will operate two dedicated berths. This new terminal is expected to be operational by January 2009, a PSA statement said.

"We are honoured that both NYK and "K" Line have partnered PSA in making AATS the first joint-venture car terminal in Singapore. We are delighted that our customers see long-term value in Singapore as a transshipment hub for vehicles," said Kuah Boon Wee, PSA chief executive officer of southeast Asia and Singapore terminals.

"Together with all our partners and customers, we hope that this business will continue to grow moving ahead," he said.

In 2006, PSA Singapore Terminals handled 24 million TEU, and its multi-purpose terminals moved over 18 million tonnes of break-bulk and specialised cargo.
