International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) has finalised orders with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing for 63 aircraft worth US$8.8 billion at current list prices.
The ILFC order comprises 50 additional 787 Dreamliners, with the company scheduled to take delivery of the Dreamliners between 2010 and 2017. The order also includes 10 Next-Generation 737s, which extends ILFC's delivery stream through 2012.
In addition, Boeing and ILFC revealed in a joint statement an order booked earlier this year exercising options for two 787-8 Dreamliners and one 777-300ER (Extended Range) for delivery in early 2009.
The order makes ILFC the largest customer of the 787 Dreamliner to date, with a total of 74 airplanes on order. ILFC owns a portfolio valued at more than $48 billion, consisting of approximately 900 jet aircraft.
"We are experiencing strong leasing demand from airlines all over the world for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner," said Steven Udvar-Hazy, ILFC chairman and chief executive officer.
The world's first 787 Dreamliner will enter service in 2008. "This order underscores the record-setting market acceptance of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner within the financial community and among airlines around the globe," said Scott Carson, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
