MOL to start India-US service

MOL will commence a container shipping service from July linking India to the US in an effort to expand Indian Ocean offerings.
The US east coast service, the India-America Express (IAX), will use the Suez Canal and is designed for customers with high value and time-sensitive cargo.
The port rotation for the IAX service will be: Colombo (Thu/Fri), Nhava Sheva, (Sun/Mon), Mundra (Tue/Wed), Damietta (Tue/ Wed), New York (Sat/Mon), Norfolk (Tue/Wed), Charleston (Thu/Thu), Savannah (Fri/Fri), Port Said (Wed/Thu), returning to Colombo (Thu/Fri). Transit time from New York to Damietta will be 16 days.
The IAX service marks the fourth new Indian string to be launched since the Singapore Chennai Express (SMX) commenced last October. November saw the introduction of the New Nhava Sheva/Strait Area Service (NS2), and this July will see upgrades to the India/Pakistan/UAE-Africa Service (MRX).
MOL's new Suez Express service (SZX) that is also expected to debut in July, will together with the IAX provide a comprehensive network for the Asia-US trade via the Suez Canal. The IAX will, in effect, cater to the trade to and from Egypt and the East Mediterranean via Damietta and Port Said, a company statement said.
The port rotation for the SZX service is: Singapore (Tues/Thru), Colombo (Sun/Sun), New York (Thurs/Fri), Charleston (Sun/Sun), Savannah (Mon/Mon), Norfolk (Wed/Wed), Jebel Ali (Sun/Mon), Port Kelang (Mon/Mon) and Singapore (Tues/Thur).
The IAX service will start with the sailing of the New Delhi Express from Colombo on July 27. |
