Evergreen expanding Greece/Turkey service
POSTED: 9:27 a.m. EDT, May 27,2007
Evergreen Line is from the end of this month upgrading its weekly two-ship Greece-Turkey (GTS) service into two loops deploying a combined three ships. The current service -- operated by the 1,152-TEU LT Bianca and the 1,028-TEU Ital Verde, both owned by Evergreen subsidiary Italia Marittima -- calls at Taranto in Italy; Piraeus and Thessaloniki in Greece; and Haydarpasa and Gemlik in Turkey. The GT1 service will start May 26 when the sole operating vessel, the Italia Marittima-chartered 698-TEU Agilitas departs from Taranto before calling Piraeus and Izmir and then heading back to Taranto. The GT2 service will be operated by the same vessels on the existing GTS and will have a port rotation of Taranto, Thessaloniki, Istanbul, Haydarpasa, Gemlik and Taranto. The first estimated departure date for the first eastbound GT2 service is May 31, with the sailing of LT Bianca. |
