Shenzhen's foreign trade value up 25.7pc in first half

The value of Shenzhen City's foreign trade has risen by 25.7 per cent in the first half of this year to US$12.75 million, according to the latest statistics from customs.
Within this total, exports surged 30.9 per cent compared to the first half of last year to $7.44 million, while imports increased 19.0 per cent to $5.31 million.
A report by Logistics Week said that Shenzhen's foreign trade value, as well as the value of its exports and imports registered higher growth rates than the national average.
When compared with the average growth rate for Guangdong province, Shenzhen's imports increased at a rate that was 1.2 percentage points higher than the provincial average and its export growth rate was 3.3 percentage points higher, the report said.
Exports by Chinese companies in Shenzhen grew in pace with exports of foreign invested companies, but foreign companies based in Shenzhen imported goods at a much faster pace than domestic companies.
