HONG KONG's Dragonair has implemented the Dragonair Aviation Certificate Programme for 2007.
The initiative was first started in September 2005 as a joint effort between Dragonair and the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps to inspire a new generation of aviators in Hong Kong. Seven cadets, aged 18 to 23, will take part in this year's programme, which runs from July 1 to November 30.
"The 2007 Dragonair Aviation Certificate Programme continues our efforts to inspire young people in the Hong Kong community," said Dragonair chief executive officer Kenny Tang. "Through the programme we will build on the cadets' enthusiasm for flying by exposing them to real-life experiences and first-hand knowledge of air operations.
"We have enhanced the programme this year, gaining support from a number of organisations to enable us to cover an even wider range of aviation-related subjects," Mr Tang added.
The cadets will undergo a five-month mentorship programme working together with company pilots. There will also be training sessions, briefings and tours with the backing of aviation-related organisations such as the Civil Aviation Department, Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company, Hong Kong International Airport Services, the Airport Meteorological Office of the Hong Kong Observatory, the Aviation Security Company and Government Flying Service, a Dragonair statement said.
