Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province, the second largest external trade port of the country, achieved a container turnover of seven million TEUs from January 1 to September 30, surpassing the annual throughput for 2005.
The general cargo turnover during the same period was 200 million tonnes, also surpassing the annual volume for 2005.
The total turnover included 56.49 million tonnes of iron ore, ranking it first worldwide, and 33.11 million tonnes of petroleum, first nationwide.
The port expects total general cargo turnover of 260 million tonnes and container turnover of nine million TEUs for 2007.
