DB Schenker wins multimillion dollar plant deal

2009-9-24

DB Schenker has won the global integrated logistics contract for the mammoth Gorgon LNG plant under construction at a cost of AU$43bn (US$37.6bn) in Australia.

The forwarder will supply international and domestic integrated logistics services for the transport of material and equipment for Chevron Australia.

DB Schenker estimated the four-year deal would be worth approximately AU$590m with over two million freight tonnes expected to be moved to module fabrication yards in Asia and/or directly to Australia.

"We have a successful track record in upstream and downstream oil and gas projects given our ability to deliver services on time and in budget," Ron Koehler, CEO of Schenker Australia.

"Already we have in place a core project team, whose numbers will be growing significantly following the commencement of operations on the 15 of September 2009."
