Peak hour fees at Australian ports upset truckies

2009-6-3

The Sydney Ports Corporation is set to impose a peak hour charge of around US$129 to $145 on trucks picking up containers during the hours of 5am and 1pm, while a shoulder period charge of around $64 to $81 will be imposed on trucks between the hours of 1pm to 9pm, the Australian Financial Review reported.

Additionally, there will also be a weekend incentive of between $8 and $16 per truck to encourage transport companies and importers to move to less congested periods.
