IAG Cargo has announced an increase in frequency on its London Heathrow to Mexico City route adding a weekly flight from Sunday, April 27, according to Shipping Gazette.
"The expanded schedule will now see flights operating almost daily, with the number of flights per week increasing from five to six," said IAG Cargo.
Said IAG regional cargo chief Rodrigo Casal: "The additional flight, which is to be served by a Boeing 747, will see a 20 per cent boost in air freight capacity as increasing the level of flexibility for business in this region."
Customers benefit from connections offered at Heathrow, linking Mexico City to more than 350 destinations in the IAG Cargo network, the company said.
Air freight is key to Mexico's perishable exports such as berries, papayas and mangoes to Amsterdam, Paris and Madrid. This additional flight support the growing Mexican automotive and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) market.
The schedule expansion between London and Mexico City will mean IAG Cargo now provides double the number of direct flights per week compared to the next largest competitor, the company said.
