Air China launches first direct flights to Hawaii from Beijing

China's flag carrier, Air China, begins direct flights from Beijing to Hawaii to meet passenger demand from Chinese travellers which grew by 64 per cent in 2012, according to the Shipping Gazette.
The new service, CA837/8, will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays deploying a widebody A330-200. Flights depart from Bejing at 1330 hrs local time and arrive Hawaii at 1630 hrs local time. Return flight takes off from Hawaii at 2200 hrs local time and arrives in Beijing at 0520 hrs.
A ceremony was held at Beijing Capital International Airport's Terminal 3 for the inaugural flight with dancers from Hawaii treating the audience to the distinctive Hula dance and presenting garlands to the invited guests.
The direct nonstop flight will spare passengers from Beijing and surround transfer in Shanghai, and offer an additional transfer option from Europe and the Middle East bound for Hawaii.
Air China is soon to introduce new Beijing-Vienna-Barcelona and Shanghai-Munich services.
