Heathrow disruption after computer glitch

2008-8-16

A computer glitch caused major disruption at Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 today. Thousands of passengers were prevented from entering the building after computer screens in the terminal went blank. A spokesman for BAA said an 'IT network problem' problem had led to delays, but no cancellations.

A BAA spokesman said: ¡®Passengers were delayed checking in at Terminal 3 following a temporary suspension of services due to an IT network issue. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.'

There are no cancellations, however some flights departing from Terminal 3 were delayed. Passengers were given water and seating outside Terminal 3, which serves mainly long haul flights.
