The BritishAirways pilot hailed as a hero after flying a stricken plane that crash landed at Heathrow on January 17 has been involved in another engine scare. The throttle control of an engine on the BA plane John Coward was flying failed for more than a minute last Sunday, as it flew to Heathrow from Calcutta.

The right-hand engine of the plane was unresponsive to throttle commands (thrust increase and decrease) for about 90 seconds. However, the situation returned to normal and the flight continued without further incident.

Mr Coward, dubbed 'Calamity' because of his injury prone past including being struck by lightening, and the crew managed to land the Boeing 777-200 flight as normal.
