UAE reaches air services agreement with Turkey

Dubai: The UAE federal aviation authority announced it negotiated air rights for flights between Abu Dhabi and Turkey, giving Etihad Airways the option to fly five frequencies a week.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said it signed an Air services memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Turkey on Monday in Abu Dhabi.

Mohammad Ganim Al Gaith, Director General, signed the accord with Dr. Ali Ariduru, Director General of Civil Aviation of Turkey. According to the agreement, both parties agreed to increase traffic rights on the Abu Dhabi - Turkey - Abu Dhabi route to a total of five passenger frequencies per week with immediate effect.

A spokesman for Etihad said it was too soon to talk about when it might fly to Istanbul or Ankara.
