Dell Inc is set to announce a deal to sell its personal computers through China's largest electronics retailer Gome Group, according to a report on The Wall Street Journal online edition on Sunday.
The move would be the latest departure by Dell, the world's second-largest personal computer maker, from its direct-sales model as it seeks to grab a larger piece of the global market.
A Dell spokesman said on Sunday that Dell would make a statement on Monday in Beijing but would not confirm any other details.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the Journal said Beijing-based Gome would let Dell use its vast retail network -- close to 1,000 stores across 168 Chinese cities -- to sell its desktop models in China, the world's second-largest PC market by shipments.
