Lockheed Martin, one of the world's largest defense contractors, and India's top software company Wipro Technologies announced on Saturday the opening of its Network Centric Operations Center here in India.
This center, dubbed Ambar Jyoti (meaning "light from the sky"), is the third one set up by Lockheed Martin in the world, which will develop, demonstrate and experiment with emerging network-enabled capabilities and applications.
The two companies will utilize cutting-edge technologies and real environment emulation to develop net-enabled capabilities and solutions to employ against current real-world problems, including civil and military applications, according to information released from the press conference.
Rick Kirkland, President of Lockheed Martin South Asia, told Xinhua, " The reason why the company choose to establish the lab in India is that India has world-level technical expertise and brains."
"This experiment and demonstration center is the first of its kind in India. We are certain that as a result of this project, the Indian Market will get easier access to such advanced network centric based architecture and concepts," said Dr. A. L. Rao, Chief Operating Officer of Wipro Technologies.
At Ambar Jyoti, defense, homeland securities and civilian network centric capabilities can be explored in technology-driven, realistic operational environment.
