Royal Jordanian signs purchase intent deal with Boeing

Royal Jordanian, Jordan's flag carrier, announced here on Sunday an order for two Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a total cost of 250 million U.S. dollars.

The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, which was opened here on Friday.

According to Samer Al Majali, the president and CEO of Royal Jordanian, the company also plans to confirm the purchase of another two aircraft before the end of the year. In addition, the airline intends to take an additional eight Boeing 787s on lease.

The total cost of the purchase and leasing deal amounts at 1.5 billion dollars, he added.

Royal Jordanian, which became a member of the oneworld airline alliance of international carriers since April 1, 2007, has a total of 24 passenger planes and serves 52 destinations around the globe.
