Vehicle sales of Volkswagen Group soared by 28.8 percent to 600,000 in the first eight months this year, which is expected to reach 800,000 for the whole year.

Sales of Audi cars rose by 27 percent to 65,000 units in the first eight months, said Su Weiming, board member and executive vice president of Volkswagen Group China.

Meanwhile, sales of imported Volkswagen vehicles in China saw an annual growth rate of 220 percent since 2002 and may reach 8,000 units in 2007, he said.
