Grand Alliance, TNWA team up on Asia-Black Sea service

Container shipping lines participating in the Grand Alliance and The New World Alliance (TNWA) carriers are teaming up to jointly offer a service from Asia to the Black Sea, starting from mid-June 2008.

The Grand Alliance and TNWA carriers began cooperating in February this year with a slot exchange on their respective fortnightly services to the Black Sea. The new joint service will now provide shippers a weekly frequency with common port.

Eight vessels will be deployed on the service. Grand Alliance member lines will operate five vessels. TNWA members will operate the remaining three vessels. Capacity for each is about 5,000 TEU.

The port rotation for the Asia-Black Sea service is: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, Singapore, Suez, Istanbul, Constanza, Odessa, Constanza, Istanbul, Damietta, Suez, Jeddah, Singapore, Shanghai.

Grand Alliance members include Hapag-Lloyd, MISC Berhad, NYK and OOCL. TNWA members include APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and MOL.
