Maersk has announced floating bunker adjustment factor charges for several trades, which will become effective May 1.
The BAFs are identical for dry and reefer boxes, and will be revised on a quarterly basis.
For cargo moving from North America and Latin America to East Africa, the charge will be $600 per 20-foot container, and $1,200 per 40-foot container. In the direction the charges will be $200 and $400, respectively.
For cargo moving from the Far East to the West Coast of the United States, Canada, or to Guam the BAF will be $125 per 20-footer and $250 for 40- and 45-foot boxes. The BAF in the opposite direction is $55 and $110, respectively.
For cargo moving from the Far East to ports on the U.S. East and Gulf coasts, Canada and Mexico will be $195 per 20-footer and $390 for 40- and 45-footers. In the opposite direction the charges will be $85 and $170, respectively.
