Container promotion receives Maersk Line backing

2008-1-25

Maersk Line has pledged its full support for the recently launched Container Shipping Information Service's (CSIS) global public relations drive to promote public appreciation of the benefits of container shipping.

"We feel it our responsibility to provide tools to create a better understanding of our industry," said Maersk Line CEO Eivind Kolding in a company statement. "Maersk Line has been continuously introducing leading technology and operational best practices that further enhance marine transport performance."

Formed by 24 container shipping companies, the PR initiative is centred on a website, www.shipsandboxes.com, that features "Did You Know" and "Jargon Buster" sections. Through CSIS, the industry aims to show what it does is vital to the lives of most people. It also plans to openly address public concerns such as the environment, globalisation, innovation and security.
