MOL Consolidation Service Ltd, a Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Japanese transportation and logistics group MOL, has been providing freight consolidation services for Indiana's Shoe Carnival Inc in China and Hong Kong.
A company statement said that MOL Consolidation Service started offering the service for products manufactured by the US shoe retailer in China and Hong Kong in the third quarter of this year.
Shoe Carnival was said to have selected MOL Consolidation Service because the company is able to provide, in addition to freight consolidation in Asia, container shipping services through the parent group, global airfreight forwarding, cargo information at stock keeping unit levels along the supply chain via its Starlink inventory control system, and customs house brokerage services owing to MOL's partnership with Kintetsu World Express.
"The MOL Consolidation/KWE/MOL alliance supplies Shoe Carnival with a seamless network on our international supply chain requirements," said Shoe Carnival traffic manager Richard Hyland.
MOL's buyers or ocean consolidation business (OCB) is a logistics service offered to retailers in Europe and the US that buy products manufactured in several plants overseas, primarily in Asia. These products are consolidated into shipping containers, as small-lot or multi-product cargoes, at loading ports and then transported to their destinations, saving on transportation costs, the company release added.
