Reliance Industries Ltd is forming a joint venture with state-owned Container Corp of India (Concor) to move boxes by road and rail as well as run distribution services.
Reliance Logistics, an associate company of Reliance Industries, will hold 51 per cent in the JV Infinite Logistics Solutions while the remaining share will be held by Concor, reports India's Sify business news portal.
"While mainly investing in talent, the company shall supplement it in trucking, warehousing and material handling equipment to support the vision," a company statement said.
"The expected customer base will range from manufacturers, traders and retailers from a variety of different industries, spread across the length and breadth of India."
Reliance Logistics and its associates moves 15 million tonnes of cargo a year and owns more than 400 trucks and tankers, making it India's largest logistics company.
