Air India will unveil its new livery and aircraft before the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, at the Indian Gandhi International Airport here on July 28. Boeing 777-200 Long Range (LR), which came from Seattle on Wednesday, and Airbus’s A-321, will be on display.B 777-200 will enable Air India to fly non-stop daily from Mumbai to New York from August 1.
The new A-321 is used in domestic routes.
“The static display will provide a glimpse of the main business activities of the airline.
The idea of holding the function now despite the other new aircraft joining the fleet earlier is to show how one phase of induction is completed with the arrival of the Boeing 777,” sources told Business Line.
Air India and Indian have ordered 111 new aircraft. While Air India ordered 68 Boeing including 8 Boeing 777-200 LR apart from 27 Boeing 787, Indian has ordered 43 A-320. .
Some of the new aircraft are on duty.
