Air India open to pooling resources at airports
POSTED: 10:33 a.m. EDT, July 14,2007

Air India is in favour of greater cooperation between airlines from India operating abroad and is willing to drive such an exercise, the airline Chairman and Managing Director, Mr V. Thulasidas, has said.

¡°We are in favour of any kind of cooperation be it in operational or commercial areas. We can look at pooling resources at airports and also on one airline doing security rather than every one doing their own security. Being the national carrier, Air India is willing to drive the exercise so as to try and maximise our resources,¡± Mr Thulasidas told Business Line.

The other areas where airlines could share resources was in the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul and flight simulators facilities.

¡°Air India plans to have an MRO and is adding simulators all of which can be used by other airlines,¡± Mr Thulasidas said.

The AI CMD however, refused to comment on the proposal of Jet Airways Chairman, Mr Naresh Goyal about airlines from India forming an alliance.
