Korean Air, held an opening ceremony for the cargo terminal at Incheon international airport on 10th Sep. Located at the east end of cargo terminal A, the new cargo terminal had been under construction since May 2005 and is now ready for operation.
The new terminal, which has 1 floor under and 5 floors over ground with 37,400 square meters of total floor space, is capable of handling 260,000 tons of cargo yearly, boosting Korean Air’s yearly cargo handling capacity up to 1.61 million tons from the current 1.35 million tons.
The new cargo terminal is equipped with the best cargo handling equipment available, including X-ray devices, metal detectors, bomb sensors, surveillance TVs, and radio frequency type gates for safer cargo transportation.
The construction of the terminal is to insure safe cargo handling and aircraft operation, a company statement said.
Korean Air is now operating freighters to 47 cities in 26 nations 140 flights weekly, processing 1.23 million tons of outbound, inbound, and transit cargo at the Incheon cargo terminal.
