Global express company TNT Express and Hongkong Post have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to allow the two companies to explore business opportunities in emerging markets.
The MOU was signed in Hong Kong by TNT chief executive Peter Bakker and Hongkong Post Postmaster General Tam Wing-Pong.
Under the agreement, TNT has appointed Hongkong Post as its service agent in the territory to enhance TNT service coverage by using the Hongkong Post's comprehensive Hong Kong retail network. As TNT does not operate retail Hong Kong retail outlets, the appointment will enhance its retail business in the region.
"Today's agreement works to the respective strengths of TNT and Hongkong Post," said Ambrose Linn, managing director, TNT Express Worldwide (HK) Ltd. "Hongkong Post's unmatched expertise and service capabilities in Hong Kong's retail market are complemented by TNT's global reach in both mature and emerging markets."
Said Hong Kong Post Master General Tam: "We always welcome any opportunity to work with couriers who are interested in riding on our respective strengths in enhancing the quality of service as well as expanding business opportunities in the courier industry."
