Business-to-business delivery firm, TNT Express, has named Thomas Tse as its new director of operations for Hong Kong.
In this role he is responsible for supervising the Hong Kong operations team, improving operational efficiency, enhancing service quality and reliability as well as staff development, a company statement said.
"Our people are our greatest asset," said Mr Tse. "By improving our training and professional development, and further refining our operations, we'll enhance service delivery for our Hong Kong customers."
Before TNT, Mr Tse was the general manager of Maersk Logistics HK, a position he had held within 2005-06. A logistics industry veteran, he was also the operations director for DHL International HK between 1998 and 2004.
Mr Tse holds a Masters of Management, Logistics and Operations Management degree from Macquarie University, Australia; a Masters of Business Administration from Sydney University, Australia; and a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Industrial Engineering (First class honours degree) from Newcastle University, Australia. He is also a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
TNT Express delivers 3.5 million parcels, documents and pieces of freight each week to over 200 countries using its network of nearly 900 depots, hubs and sorting centres. The company employs over 48,000 staff worldwide and posted profits of EUR474 million (US$617.32 million) for 2005, up 25.1 per cent over the previous year.
