Schenker strengthens cooperation with RS Components

Logistics services provider Schenker has been appointed as RS Components' sole provider of international European land distribution services between the UK and the continent.
RS Components is a distributor of 350,000 electronic, electrical, mechanical, health and safety products lines worldwide.
"Schenker has been our European land transport provider for over eight years and has established a strategic understanding of our business needs to deliver a cost effective solution to RS Components. Schenker is best equipped to support our demanding service needs through its wholly-owned network, which is not reliant on third party agents," said Frank Peplinski, general manager supply chain for RS Components.
Under the terms of the deal, Schenker provides outbound land distribution throughout Europe through its central UK hub in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, connecting with daily scheduled services to RS Components' key markets in Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Denmark. Schenker is also responsible for managing supplier collections from RS Components' European vendor base and customer returns back to its central distribution centre in the UK, a company statement said.
"RS Components, like many of our customers, is benefiting from the continued expansion in our market leading European land transport network," said Andy Connor, director of the land division for Schenker in the UK.
This development comes as Schenker and BAX Global are in the process of integrating around the world. The joint organisation has a team of about 55,000 experts at 1,500 locations in 150 countries. Schenker is a part of DB Logistics, the Transportation and Logistics Division of Deutsche Bahn AG. |
